Over the past year, I’ve had the pleasure of working on a complete redesign of the website for Lähiradio, a communal radio station based in Helsinki.
The new site runs on WordPress via Zoner’s wp.One service, using a commercial theme (OnAir2) as a foundation. While the setup itself was straightforward, the real work began with migrating years of content from the old site and rethinking its visual identity. Much of the existing material was text-based, so we produced new photography and graphics to better suit a modern, more visual web environment.
All development was done in a staging environment, alongside launching a new Instagram account and aligning content updates across the website and Facebook — something that hadn’t been consistently done before. Once everything was tested and approved, we moved the site to the lahiradio.fi domain, retiring the old website after what must have been well over two decades of service.
